Technique Tuesday!

I finally stamped something! I had a chance to attend an upline meeting over the weekend & it really was like a bit of much needed therapy. Thanks Bev, Karen, Nicole, & all the other lovely gals that were there. I even got a beautiful gift from Karen! (I will share it soon.) As I said in my last post things haven't been great around here lately but I know God is working even when we can't see what He is doing He is ALWAYS working things out for our good. Anyway tomorrow I get to meet up with some more of my favorite people for Technique Tuesday! We will be using SU's watercolor pencils! I have been practicing & wanted to share one of the cards I made.

Oh yeah on another happy note...I entered a contest on the SU demo site & Shelli's blog contest last month & I won both! So cool, 2 free stamp sets, Woo Hoo!

I think things are a bit more settled so I hope to resume posting more often. Thanks for popping by today!

OMGosh I can't believe how fast time flies sometimes! Life has been crazy & a lot of it not in a good way so sorry for being MIA for so long but I haven't stamped anything in a while. :(

I have been practicing my sewing though. A couple weeks ago I got this crazy idea that I WAS going to learn how to make clothes for my girls. I have spent a ton of time researching, blog hopping, & youtubing sewing stuff. I'm kinda crazy like that...once I get it in my head to do something I chomp on that idea like a pit bull until its completed. I'm happy to say I have completed 2 "successful" dresses for #4 (yes, I will now be referring to the girls by birth order. It's just easier that way.). And by successful I mean not too many horrendous mistakes & she will actually wear them with out screaming her head off & running the other direction when I try to put them on her. The other clothing item I completed last year, I think I uploaded photos, she only wore it that one time. See I had no idea what I was doing when I made it but she eventually let me put it on her but to get it off....well lets just say we almost needed the jaws of life. LOL. So needless to say she did not want anything to do with that outfit after that. Next on the list is matching Easter dresses for them all, except #1, at 17 I don't see her being excited to be all matchy matchy with the little ones. It's a big challenge but we'll see. Anyway the only card have to share is one I made for a class a couple months ago...

This is based on a beautiful sample I saw at leadership. Still going through stuff so not sure when I'll be back in full swing but I'll try to keep ya posted!

Hostess Gift Tutorial

There are a lot of tutorials for the scrunch flowers but some of you have asked how I did this project so I thought I'd do a video for you! Once in awhile I create a project that I absolutely fall in love with & this is one of those projects! I think the Everyday Enchantment DSP is the most beautiful paper SU has ever created! The fact that its FREE through the Sale-a-Bration promo is just over the top cool. I might cry when it retires next month!! Good thing my wish lists are long so I can stock up on a bunch of it before it goes bye bye. Ok with out further ado.....

I wanted to get my March Hostess gifts & Make n Take samples ready in advance so I can show them at my upcoming workshops. I am hoping to book more in home workshops so I really wanted to have a super gift for my hostesses. I hope they love this project as much as I do! Baby Cards!

I don't make too many baby cards so these were super fun to do! I am planning on having an all occasions stamp a stack on March 3rd & wanted to include a baby card as one of the options since we all need to have those on hand from time to time. Thought it would be fun to use a couple of the new SU dies in a bit of a creative way. I used the Rosette die to make the "wall paper" for the baby's room card & the Edgelit made a perfect pregnancy silhouette for the second card. Thanks for stopping by today! February Make n Takes

I listened to a SU Demo training webinar today & I loved the idea of creating a different Make n Take for every month instead of for each individual workshop. I am hoping to do more in home workshops so this will really help keep things simple. To keep things even easier I decided to case my card from the great Shelli Gardner! Because I Care....

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE understand that what I am about to share is extremely personal & I am only sharing it so that maybe it will help someone out there so please be sensitive to that & if you have a negative comment or judgement please keep it to yourself. ALSO be warned some information is extremely disturbing & graphic.

First let me start by saying we all have to have ways to cope with stress, emotional pain, & traumatic life experiences. Some are not healthy like drugs, alcohol, promiscuity, hurting others, reckless behavior, etc.. Some of us haven't learned healthy ways to deal with hurt, maybe we had bad role models growing up or just not enough instruction on what to do with anger & painful emotions. I beleive this generation is facing more attacks than ever before. No value for human life, broken homes, judgement, physical, sexual, & emotional abuse, stero types, bullying, peer pressure, low self esteem, & many other things. We have taught them that when things are uncomfortable we find ways to escape...drugs, alcohol, divorce, abortion, suicide, etc.. There is no moral compass for most so it's kind of a free for all. We have taught them that their self worth is found in looks, money, popularity, academics, social status, success, & possessions instead of the truth that they are precious, beautiful, talented, valuable, & so very loved no matter what they look like or what they ever accomplish. WE HAVE TO CHANGE THE MESSAGES OUR KIDS ARE GETTING!

I don't know how many people are aware of something young people are doing called "cutting". A lot of the time it is how they are coping with deep emotional pain, trauma, & self esteem issues. The brain release endorphins which produces a natural high & they do this so they can escape the emotional issues & focus on the physical pain. It is also a way for them to feel in control since many of them are in situations that they feel they have no control over. I wanted to understand why this is happening so I started to research it & I found alot of info. I also wanted to find out what these kids are going through & what exactly they are doing to themselves. WARNING!!! This video is EXTREMELY graphic but to understand the pain of this disorder it was necesary for me to watch it. {I'll cut myself to DEATH before you realize you should hug me} This article was very helpful to get an inside view of why these kids are doing this since it was quotes from them, to read it {Click Here} . This site also has many articles on helping them stop this dangerous behavior. Alot of times it is hard to know if your friend or loved one is doing this because they cut in places that will be covered by their clothing.
What I noticed from the comments was that the LOVE of someone who cared is what helped many of them stop. In this world where everyone is so busy & self centered we have lost the desire to truly care for one another & to express our love to others regularly. TELL the ones you love how much they mean to you. SHOW them you care. GIVE them your time. Life is so short don't waste it being too busy for the ones you love most. Treat everyone with kindness. Understand that everyone is hurting in some way & do what you can to help them instead of adding to their pain. You will be surprised what just a simple smile or compliment can do for someone that is hurting. Always remember WORDS can hurt more than any physical pain. Words can also help bring healing so choose your words carefully, especially when talking to those you love. I can still remember hurtful things that were said to me by loved ones as a little girl & I am sure we all can relate.
If you or someone you know is suffering please know that no matter how you feel reach out to someone, don't suffer in silence. THERE IS HOPE & someone LOVES you!

Whats Up Wednesday

Last night was our first Technique Tuesday of 2012 & I wanted to do a special Valentine project. I was inspired by some beautiful heart boxes I saw on the SU demo site made by Karen Miller. To save time I decided to make mine in to hanging boxes. I used the felted cardstock technique to make the scrunched flower. Love that new flower punch & LOVE how this project came together!

Now for whats been up... Last week everyone was sick again except me & my oldest daughter. Hubs even took a day off GASP! I'm grateful I didn't get it because my to do list was SO long! I had my downline meeting & a Sale-a- Bration kick off party, I made 8 samples for the Valentine classes, & started on my U Stamp stuff. I still have to complete 2 more projects for U Stamp, 4 stamp a stack samples, & prepare for a workshop. Also have a demo stamp n chat tomorrow {Love Those!} & need to make a ton of Valentines. Good news is all this work will result in lots of eye candy for you so stay tuned!

Valentine's in Paris

Whats Up Wednesday!

It feels like a ton has happened since last week! Where to start....Ok so yesterday we celebrated my baby girls 2nd B-Day!

She is still small enough to bathe in the kitchen sink! Love that!

I had a chance to frame one of the make n take projects from Leadership! It looks so cute on my display shelf & inspires me to go after my dreams. Leadership was such a fabulous experience! I was so blessed to have been able to go. The absolute highlight for me was spending time with an amazing friend & really realizing what Stampin Up is all about! Yes the products are super fabulous but its really all about relationships. The products are just a way to build , strengthen, & nurture those relationships that are so dear to us. Putting a smile on the face of those we love is such a priceless gift. Like smiles, stamping transcends gender, age, occupation, education, & social status. It gives us a chance to just have fun, create, connect & build friendship with each other! It was an amazing thing to realize that if it had not been for my love of stamping I would not have met a group of women that I cherish so dearly. I am blessed to call them my friends! Every time we get together face to face or in cyberspace I really appreciate the fact that they are choosing to spend time with me & letting me share a bit of what I love with them!

One of my goals in 2012 is to share more of what I love with others by offering the amazing opportunity of becoming a Stampin Up Demonstrator to as many as I can & having more home parties so others can have an opportunity to get together with friends & just have FUN! I think we can all use a bit more FUN in our lives! Ok on that note I have got to go get ready for the FUN I get to have tomorrow at my SALE-A-BRATION KICK OFF PARTY! Hope you can make it!

I am so glad to be home! Yesterday was a crazy day! The total highlight though was when my friend Lynda talked me in to going over to meet Shelli! Which would have been fun but it turned in to an incredible experience when Shelli recognized my name & said "Mercedes Weber, You are like the queen of punches right?". She said she remembered picking me as a challenge winner on her blog! OMGOSH! OMGOSH! OMGOSH! Are you serious did Shelli Gardner just say that she knew who I was?!!! So needless to say by now I am completely blushing & smiling like I'm in a toothpaste commercial so I might look silly in the pictures we got to take with her but it was such an honor to meet her. I will upload the pictures when I get them from Lynda.

Heart Sachet

I love the new heart framelits! I was so excited when I ran our beautiful fabric through & it cut perfectly! My sweetie was so super amazing & sewed these lovely gifts for a couple of friends I met up with here in San Antonio. Today was a big day of SU announcements! One of my favorites is a new diagonal score insert for our lovely Simply Scored! Woo Hoo!
Plus today we got a TON of FREE PRODUCTS!!! I'll be back tomorrow with more updates!

Whats Up Wednesday! (Kinda)

Hello from SAN ANTONIO! It's been a crazy day & I am so glad me & my friend Lynda made it here! I am running on like 1 hour of sleep. We had our Make n Take session & we got some fun new stuff to play with. I can't wait to show you some of the card ideas I have for an up coming class but for now I have one of the swap cards I made for Leadership. This card features the new Sale a Bration DSP & matching stamp set! I went with a color combo thats very different than my usual style but I'm really lovin it! Anyway I am super tired but I hope to be back tomorrow to update you more on whats going on here. ;)

Whats Up Wednesday!

Well it's now offically one week before Leadership! Next Wednesday I will be up before dawn to head off to San Antonio! I can't beleive it has come so fast. I am so extremely grateful to be going with my dear friend Lynda! Anyway lets talk about what's been going on this week. Today I got to have lunch with my sweetie, which is very rare, & I took my kids to their favorite park. =)
This week (meaning Wednesday to Wednesday) seems to have passed by at warp speed! I finished up my U Stamp tutorials, went shopping for a few home improvement items (really looking forward to getting those done), still wiping runny noses, wish I had got some swaps done for Leadership but just didn't make any great accomplishments in that area, also wish I had gotten more organizing done but that didn't happen too much either.

Reading Mathew 7 & getting some deep revelation on some things, actually feels more like open heart surgery. I may share more about that later. Thanks for stopping by!

My computer has WAY too much stuff on it so I have been deleting a lot of stuff & I found a few cards that I photographed but never uploaded so I thought I'd share them over the next couple days!
I made this card for Paper Crafts Stampin Royalty contest last year (I think??). Whats Up Wednesdays!

For 2012 I thought it would be fun to start a weekly post titled "Whats Up Wednesdays" so I could kind of keep a record of things that are going on in my life. So here we go...
Today I am taking care of 2 sick kids & working on swaps. On Christmas Eve my hubby & I had a talk about finding a better balance & organizing my crafting life. I have to admit for the last few months things have been quite out of hand around here. My office & some other rooms looked like an episode of horders. I have been making cards on my office floor for the last couple months because my desk was so cluttered I couldn't find any space to work. So I made a decision that I just was not going to live like that anymore. It really was making me miserable so for the last few days I have spent cleaning up. I am very happy to say that I made a ton of progress! I started in my girls room, then the dining room where I have my classes, & on to my office. I have been working in there for 7 days so that should give you some idea of how bad it was. It's still not done but I actually made over 50 swaps cards at my desk this week! Maybe I'll share a photo once its done.
