Cutie Patootie Onsie!

Do you know how amazing the Big Shot is? Like seriously, it can cut so many different types of materials and today we are going to talk about Iron On Vinyl!

A friend of mine has a little princess that is celebrating her first birthday soon & they were looking for a custom onesie for her. Well that got my wheels turning & I thought,
“Hey I can totally make that!”
So I grabbed my Large Letters Framelits, Sweet & Sassy Framelits, some iron on vinyl, & a onesie.

My vinyl came with the protective plastic layer attached so I didn’t need to use anything between the iron & the die cut shapes. But this also makes it more of a challenge for your Big Shot. I used a cardstock shim & ran it back & forth about 6 times. It took a little bit of gentle tugging to get the pieces to pop out & you can also use a craft knife if you find it too difficult.

Now it was time for the actual ironing. Since I wanted a double layered design I ironed on the heart following the instructions that came with the vinyl.

Once the vinyl had cooled for a couple of minutes I carefully peeled off the plastic layer & because I’m doing another layer you must SAVE the plastic! Otherwise you will have melted vinyl on your iron & a ruined project.
Next I positioned the letters over the heart & carefully laid the plastic layer back over the heart to protect the raw vinyl from my iron. Once again I ironed the entire design following the vinyl’s instructions.

Once it was cooled it was time to remove the plastic layers & admire the cuteness!

I was pretty happy with how this turned out & can’t wait to create some more custom vinyl projects!
